Ensero Solutions Receives 2020 EBJ Business Achievement Award

San Diego, Calif. (February 2021) — Environmental Business Journal® (EBJ), a business research publication which has provided strategic business intelligence to the environmental industry since 1988, has honored Ensero Solutions with a 2020 EBJ Business Achievement Award for COVID Resilience.

“2020 was certainly an exceptional year for our society, the economy and the environmental industry,” said Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International Inc. (EBI, Inc.), and editor of Environmental Business Journal. “Unique enough that we added two major categories to the EBJ Awards: COVID Resilience that recognizes companies that adapted to work-at-home, travel, field services and other restrictions, as well as rapidly changing client needs; and COVID Response that recognizes companies that developed or accelerated new business initiatives, innovations and entire business units to support the environment, health & safety needs of their diverse client sectors.”

The EBJ Business Achievement Awards customarily recognize business performance in conventional metrics like revenue growth, M&A, exceptional projects, technology development and deployment in the field, and advances in information and digital technology, and these categories are well represented in 2020.

Ensero Solutions was recognized for its quick response and adaptation during COVID-19. In February 2020, shortly after completing the management buyout transaction from Alexco Resources Corp., COVID began to make its impact in North America. But this didn’t stop the newly formed Ensero Solutions from adding a world-class management team and, although separated and all working from home, continuing to build its culture and even increasing employee engagement scores by 4%.

“Every leader in our organization continued to step up and lead by our core values. We implemented a mid-day meeting free period for parents homeschooling children, we encouraged everyone to use flexibility in their workday to ensure they were at their personal best, and we made sure to keep it fun with pub-style trivia nights, a murder mystery and a virtual holiday party,” said Mitch Strom, Chief People Officer at Ensero. “The additional flexibility for all our employees was not only a reaction to COVID but is in the DNA of our core values and how we operate as an organization”.
