MNRLP announces completed purchase of Mount Nansen Mine site from Receiver, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Whitehorse, Yukon (February 17th, 2022) – Mount Nansen Remediation Limited Partnership (MNRLP) is pleased to announce the completed purchase of the Mount Nansen Mine site from the Receiver, PricewaterhouseCoopers. MNRLP is a partnership between Ensero Solutions Inc. and JDS Energy & Mining Inc.

As of September 24, 2021, MNRLP is carrying out Care and Maintenance activities at the site and pursuing the design and regulatory processes, such as assessment under the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act (YESAA) to remediate contamination from past mining activities. Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) will maintain an oversight role for the duration of the remediation project. MNRLP and CIRNAC will continue ongoing consultation with the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation and the Government of Yukon.

The completion of the sale process is the product of many years of collaborative work between the MNRLP, CIRNAC, the Government of Yukon, and the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation. By participating in this project, MNRLP will advance responsible clean-up of the abandoned Mount Nansen site, while developing economic opportunities for the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation and surrounding Yukon communities.

MNRLP entered into a Remediation and Security Agreement (RASA) with Canada as part of the sale, governing how MNRLP will remediate the site. This ensures that the clean-up will benefit all Yukoners and the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation. MNRLP and CIRNAC are committed to the protection of the health and safety of Northerners and the northern environment.
