Ensero was founded in 1996 and expanded in 2006 to lead a challenging mine permitting and restoration project that required ownership to meet regulatory demands and the parent company business case. While never losing this owner’s perspective, we have since grown to be an independent, all-encompassing environmental and engineering consulting firm. Without losing our focus on practicality and cost-effectiveness, we employ novel and advanced environmental technologies to provide enduring environmental solutions for our clients, based on solid science, community awareness, and business objectives. Our Leadership Team

CEO

Jim Harrington

Jim Harrington is CEO of Ensero Solutions, providing technical management of Ensero services, and part of the management team leading Ensero’s operations in Canada and the United States. He provides technical expertise in the environmental science and engineering fields for clients with whom he has maintained long-term relationships. He consults in the areas of environmental project management, permitting, first nation, regulatory, and stakeholder relationships. He has expertise in the application of cutting-edge technologies to enhance the performance of complex, high profile permitting and remediation projects.

Chief Operations Officer

Vanessa Friesen

Vanessa is responsible for leading Ensero’s operations, technical, and project management functions. She oversees project performance and execution, client satisfaction, resource deployment, staff development and mentorship, and health and safety for the project delivery teams. Vanessa’s previous experience includes managing Ensero’s Canadian operations and the piloting and microbiology facilities. She also managed various research and development programs, including leading Ensero’s team to become the first independent company in North America to provide contract genomic microbial services to the environmental sector.

Chief Strategy Officer

Paul Barnes

Paul is a site remediation expert with more than 28 years of environmental management, consulting, and technology development experience. He has held positions in technical, program management, and operational leadership. His experience is diverse, including management of the technical services division of a national drilling and remediation field services business, operations management of a geographic region of 5 states with 200+ consultants in a multinational corporation, director of a large/strategic pursuits program, leadership of a regional technical center, and program management of site closure programs as large as $75M.

Chief Financial Officer

John Walker

John has over 25 years of domestic and international finance and accounting experience and is a creative problem solver adept at identifying the root cause and developing corrective actions. John brings a unique blend of finance and accounting consulting and environmental engineering industry experience. His extensive experience includes ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies and procedures while maximizing revenue and reducing costs. He provides strategic financial oversight and direction while working closely with Operational Leads to achieve financial goals.

Chief People Officer

Mitch Strom

Mitch is a Human Resources professional with more than 15 years of progressive Human Resources experience with a majority of all of his previous experience spent in the mining and manufacturing industry. Prior to joining Ensero, Mitch was responsible for the development for the people and culture strategies of a new greenfield mine in Saskatchewan. At Ensero, Mitch is responsible for leading our overall people strategies, culture development, and our Health, Safety & Environment group.
